The Oatmeal Phrase was formed February 11, 2002 by (The Joe) Legend & Joenan because (The Joe) wrote lyrics & Joenan played guitar & they were also friends. On February 20, 2002 }The Joemeister{ joined the band as a guitar player. The Oatmeal Phrase was basically a name only band because they never really played, practiced, or even preformed the Oatmeal Phrase itself. The idea of the band was partially derived from The Oatmeal Phrase Tapes which had Emperor MAR performing The Oatmeal Phrase over & over in July 2000. (The Joe) gave copies of these tapes to Joenan & }The Joemeister{ yet still there are no copies of them today.
Joenan's brother & bass player ONJ was added to the band on March 3, 2002 by (The Joe) but Joenan didn't approve of this & began a long tradition of quitting the band. So ONJ was fired & Joenan came back. This may have happened a few times. Eventually ONJ was totally gone from the band.
(The Joe) tried to make a song he had written called Shouting Out Our Secrets with }The Joemeister{ but it failed he then switched to trying to make it with Joenan & that was more of a success (see Summer 2002 performance entry). There was meant to be a webpage for The Oatmeal Phrase but Emperor MAR was too lazy to make it. Eventually the profile the Joenan wrote up for the site was put on the New website (click here to see Joenan's Oatmeal Phrase profile). August 0?, 2002 }The Joemeister{ & Joenan made a song which would later be used as the guitar part Lemons in the Eyes of Children. The Oatmeal Phrase ended when }The Joemeister{ moved away in early September 2002.
