The president killed in question, is Salvador Allende former president of Chile from 1970-1973.
Story:
Drugstore, sent it to Thom, asking him if he thought it was good enough for him to provide vocals for; Thom responded by asking if they thought he was good enough to sing it. Thom did supply the vocals but somehow didn't sound right, so he was called back into the studio to record them again. It was recorded in 1996 but not released as a single until April of 1998 due to ther label Go! Discs going bankrupt.
